My mom came to visit last weekend. It is always so nice to have her here. Usually when I am on the phone with her Piper will ask after I hang up, "Is Grammy on her way here"? So I know Piper was excited too.
Mom and I went to the store one afternoon and I went to get us all drinks. Well the lines were all very long and it took me forever to get back over to where they were browsing. When I got back my mom informed me that I had been gone so long that she asked Piper "Where did moomy go off to?? Timbuktu"?? And Piper replied to her "Yeah, or mabe Timbuk-three"!!! We got a really good laugh out of that one.
On tuesday our new sneakie snake arrived. She had a long trip from Ohio. I thought she would be about as big around as a pencil. She got here and is SOOO much tinier than I ever thought. She is about as big around as a ponytail holder and is only about 6 inches long. Ah, but she is just far to freaking adorable. You know, if you like that kind of thing. I know snakes creep mom out. But I just love her to death already. Big brown eyes and little bitty flicking tongue. So sweet. She is a garter snake. I have not named her yet. Any ideas??
For everyone who reads this that are not my mom, here is the story of my original "Sneakie Snake". I was seeing a man who had a young son. He was 7 or 8 at the time. (The son, not the guy I was seeing :o LOL) The boy brought home two garter snakes he had caught earlier that day. I have never been scared of snakes, but I did not want to keep these because I was afraid they would die. I just didn't know enough about them. But we went ahead and kept them anyway. I ended up totally attached to the one I called Sneakie Snake (after a childhood snake toy). She was perfect. I took her to town in my purse. She ate from my hand only. She actually was out wandering around the house often. Mom loved visiting then, HaHa. But she got cancer. I took her to a vet who ended up doing surgery on her. That gave her an extra 6 months or so, which I was very happy to have. But she died in May of 2004. It took me a long time to feel "ready" to have a new snake. Here she is about January of 2004...
So that is all for now :)
